Starting with a blank map, how and where can we get rich mapping data to create a basemap for collections or wayfinding maps? Learn what can be done, especially in smaller gardens, using open and often free resources, whether using volunteer generated data, governmental open data, or gathering data using a smartphone or GPS/GNSS unit. This presentation will provide a step by step process in sourcing and creating data and highlight a case study from Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
