Inspire your audience to carry out conservation action long after they leave the garden! By applying the principles of conservation psychology to program design, messaging, and implementation, public gardens can motivate visitors to become active conservators of the environment. Conservation psychology, a relatively new field of study, is quickly becoming a common approach to maximizing impact for zoos and aquaria, but its adoption by public gardens is still in its earliest stages. This workshop will introduce case studies and provide tools for designing new programs or assessing a legacy program to align with conservation psychology’s model of behavior change.
